This coffee table was designed by Isamu Noguchi, a Japanese-American sculptur who was asked to design a coffee table for Robsjohn-Gibbings. He first created a small plastic sculture of his design but heard nothing back from the well know furniture designer. Due to his nationality he spend time in a WW2 concentration camp in Arizona, in the camp he noticed a variation of his design in a publication from the furniture designer Robsjohn-Gibbings. The article was titled "how to make a coffee table". Isamu Niguchi isnt the most well know designer but one thing that he is know for is making sculptures, products out of all sorts of things. This coffee table is made from two pieces of timber and a pane of glass. One thing that is interesting about this product is the symplisity of it, its technically a table with two legs however it is stable enough not to fall. This has become such a desired product that woodworkers around the world have recreated it identically appart from the signiture of Isamu Noguchi on the edge of the glass pane.
